Instructions: The teacher or a child points to each state in turn as students sing the song that names them. Following the song, a child is asked to locate a state, such as Oklahoma, on the map. You might also ask a student to identify a state where a given city is located and to note the abbreviation of that state. With regular practice, it won’t be long before your students will be able to identify all 50 states and their locations on a map!
